About Yianni’s Life
Ioannis “Yianni” Konstandinou Koumoudouros was born on June 8, 1989, to Kostoula and Kostas Koumoudouros. From a young age, Yianni showed off his shining and contagious smile. He immediately lifted those who surrounded him and his family knew from a young age that he had the trifecta – looks, brains, and personality.
Yianni grew up in Downey, California and went to Unsworth Elementary, Doty (then named East) Middle School, and Downey High School. He excelled throughout his academic career and was routinely known as the smartest kid in his class. His academic accomplishments continued at the University of California, Irvine where he graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
In his personal life, Yianni prioritized his faith, family and friends above all else. He regularly attended the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Downey where he regularly was an altar boy, attended Sunday School, competed in the Greek Folk Dance Festival and lastly participated in the Greek Orthodox Basketball League. While he loved all these things, he loved spending time with his friends. Whether it was dancing his heart out at FDF (Folk Dance Festival) or participating in his faith, Yianni loved playing basketball above all else. He frequently played basketball with his friends and always made a point to have fun.
Unfortunately, Yianni’s life was taken far too soon. On November 14, 2016, Yianni tragically passed away from a car accident at the young age of 27. While his 27 years of life were short, they were fulfilling. An eternity of happiness stays with his family and friends as they often reminisce on the many memories Yianni provided.
Yianni’s life will forever be eternal.
